My name is Denise Green, Hatha Yoga Instructor and trained in Ayurveda. I completed a 200-hour certification through Online Yoga Teacher Training with Stephanie Ball-Mitchell who is also founder of The Yoga and Ayurveda Center in Pennsylvania, and registered with Yoga Alliance. As well as taking an additional 200-Hour course with Akasha Yoga Academy located in Bali. I am currently extending my knowledge in the human body by taking a Functional Nutrition course at Functional Nutrition Lab and Functional Nutrition Alliance taught by CEO and founder, Andrea Nakayama. The belief that food is medicine is something that I have always believed in, and by addressing this holistic individualized care you fill that GAP between the physician and the patient using diet and lifestyle modification in the treatment plan.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” - Hippocrates
When I was 18 years old, I began practicing yoga. As many people, I only went through the motions and focused solely on the physical benefits, without looking deeper within myself. It wasn't until a recent auto accident that brought me to begin a more personal and mindful transformation. I tried doctors and medication to help heal my body and nothing seemed to benefit as much as yoga. I found healing through prayer, meditation and asanas (yoga poses). When we focus on a more mindful way of living, everything in your life begins to shift. Daily practice allows for a stronger mindset which helps us attain enlightenment through self love. Once we understand, through this self-discovery, that Life Is Suffering, and that there is a path to end our suffering through Ethics, Meditation and Inclusiveness - we understand that only through LOVE can this be attained. Realizing that everything that we need and want is already within us. We need only tap into that well. This will not happen until you are ready. Timing is everything!
"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of Light - but by making the darkness conscious." - C.G. Jung
My focus is to take this journey with you. Yoga is about Union, and we are all here for each other as interconnected souls. I first took this course because I saw the healing that I experienced through this practice along with Ayurveda, and I want to be able to share and help others heal by sharing what I have come to learn. Ayurveda is meant to combine yoga poses with daily self care and learning dietary habits specific to your fundamental bodily bio-elements (Dosha).
We benefit through our asana practice by diving deep into our journey and examining how our bodies work.
